A Modern Alternative to Traditional Dentures – Dental Implants

If you have lost one or more teeth or having a loose Dentures, Dental Implants can give you your smile back. Implants are a hard-wearing, long term replacement for missing teeth and are designed to look and feel natural.

What is a Dental Implant?

Dental Implants Are Currently The Best Alternative To damaged Or Missing Natural Teeth. They are proven to be much more durable and long-lasting than any other restorative dental treatment available today.

Implants are small screw like fixtures that are surgically inserted into the jawbone to form an artificial tooth root which anchors in place a new tooth crown. Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth, and serve as artificial ‘tooth roots’. A dental implant is made of pure titanium or titanium alloy, and has almost the same size and shape of the root of a tooth. It is inserted into the bone where a tooth is missing. It is biocompatible with bone and integrates fully within it, creating an extremely strong bond. If you are missing one tooth, or many teeth, we can replace your teeth easily.

Northfield Dental Clinic offers an affordable, permanent solution to missing teeth, restoring your smile with dental implants.

If a single tooth has been lost due to an accident a dental implant can provide a reliable long-term solution in many cases. This treatment does not require any cutting of the adjacent teeth – such as would be the case with a traditional bridge.

Dental implants can also be used to support multiple teeth. This usually involves the placement of two implants, which are used to support a fixed bridge.

As an alternative to a denture it is possible to replace all the teeth in an arch, anchored by several implants. The number of implants required is dependent on the clinical assessment of each individual case.

For patients who have no teeth or teeth in a bad way, a fixed full-arch using multiple implants are secured over a series of appointments, allowing the jaw time to heal. Product used – Noble Biocare

A Dental Implant Consists Of 3 Parts

A tooth crown is anchored securely to an abutment, giving you the same functions like a natural tooth. We offer porcelain and zirconium crowns.

An abutment (which we provide from either titanium or zirconium) is attached to an implanted fixture.

A small screw made from titanium is inserted into the jawbone – the dental implant. Titanium is commonly used as it is lightweight, strong and biocompatible with the human body.

Consequences of having a Missing Teeth

Experiencing tooth loss is definitely not the most pleasant scenario. Such simple tasks as biting an apple or smiling for a selfie can cause distress and discomfort due to missing teeth problems.

However, there are more unpleasant long-term consequences that tooth loss can cause and lead to changes in the overall look of the face.

1. Skin and lips to cave in
2. Wrinkles
3. Droopy cheeks
4. Face deformation
5. Tooth bone shrinkage

Improve your appearance – Implants can offer you the smile you have lost or the smile you have always wanted.

Maintain bone structure – Implants can help maintain your bone structure and support your facial tissues. They can reduce or eliminate bone atrophy, which causes “shrinkage” or facial cosmetic changes.

Permanent solution for tooth loss – Only a dental implant can replace the root of a missing tooth and eliminate the need for sticky denture adhesives and even for dentures themselves.

The Process

To determine whether dental implants can be placed, we will need to take x-rays. This will help us decide how much room we have to place the implant and we can then start planning your treatment. If the site has been without a tooth for years, we may find that there isn’t enough room to house an implant. This is when something called a ‘bone graft’ or ‘bone augmentation’ is necessary. We will explain the procedure & implications to you before commencing any treatment

The benefits of dental implants are both functional and cosmetic. With our dental implants, your facial features will be restored, and your confidence will be back.

Your Dental implant treatment will not be rushed here at Northfield Dental Clinic. Implants placed are left to heal for a period of time. Delaying the loading of the implant ensures that the implant is fully integrated with the surrounding bone lowering the risk of failure.
